Corvally history
Corvally congregation was formed around 1700 and originally
know as "Carrickmacklin". It was linked with Ervey for more
than a centuary and the first minister was the Rev.John Lee
(1703-1710). The congregations separated in 1832 and a new
church was built at Corvally in 1839 and the name changed
from "Carrickmacklin" to Corvally in 1880. In 2000 the
church became a Stated Supply with First Castleblayney and Frankford.
A former Methodist Church in Carrickmacross, which came into
Presbyterian possession in 1920, has been closed for a number
of years but it is hoped that following repairs it will be
reopened and used for outreach purposes as part of the
Monaghan Presbytery's Strategy for Mission.
The Old School House in the grounds of the Church has been completely
refurbished and is now used as the Church Hall.
